Ugly Betty actor fatally hacks mother

A low-level Freemason, who once acted in the TV comedy Ugly Betty, fatally hacked his mother in Brooklyn, USA, in what appears to be part of some bizzare ritual related to the secretive cult.

A neighbour heard Michael Brea, the 31-year-old, chanting “Repent, Repent, Repent” in true Freemansonic fashion and heard Bible passages before hacking his 55-year-old mother Yannick Brea, New York Post reported on Tuesday.

The report quoted Greg Clare who lives downstairs from the victim as saying: "He kept asking her if she believed in Jesus Christ, if she believed in God. She was yelling ‘Help me! Help me!’"

Another neighbour said Brea kept calling for the “architect of the universe”, a term  Freemasons use to describe the supreme being.

Police who arrived following 911 calls made a little after 1am also heard chants but did not force open the door locked from inside.

As part of standard procedure, police called emergency service and cordoned off the area as a crime scene.

But it was not before 2:20am when the emergency services arrived and forced their way by kicking in the locked door. By then the woman was dead with cuts on her head. Brea stood holding the three-foot long ceremonial Masonic sword.

The deceased woman’s sister Gina Bumond was furious that the police took so long to force open the door that was locked from inside.
"I heard police didn’t knock the door down. Are you serious? She could be alive today," said Bumond who works as a nurse.

Associated Press reported that Brea, who was subsequently arrested for murder and criminal possession of a weapon, is undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Kings Country Hospital.

But police didn’t know if he had previous history of psychiatric problems.
