A group of Arab expatriates wielding knives and swords attacked two Emiratis at a billiard club in Ras Al Khaimah and inflicted injuries on them before fleeing.

Police said one attacker was arrested and were searching for the other three who fled the club just after the assault.

The brother of one of the injured said his brother was with a friend when the four young men of various Arab nationalities rushed in and attacked them.

“They attacked by brother Omran and injured him. All other people who were there fled to avoid being attacked,” Omar Salim said.

Quoted by Emarat Al Youm daily, which published a film showing the attack, he said his 23-year-old brother suffered from factures in his right hand and left leg as well as stab wounds in various parts of his body.

The paper quoted Ahmed Abdul Rahman, who was also injured, as saying he tried to stop the attackers when they assaulted him.

“One of them headed for me and stabbed my right hand, when I bled and started to scream, they fled,” he said.
The paper quoted Brigadier Abdulla Al Hadidi, director general of RAK police operations, as saying the main attacker was arrested after they fled the club.

He said the attacker admitted he sought help from friends to assault the two because of a previous dispute with one of the victims.

“Police are searching for the remaining three. Disputes cannot be resolved this way. We call on all to resolve their rifts peacefully and avoid violence,” he said.
