Woman with 'lemons' in her pocket, deported

New Zealand authorities deported a woman after they found six lemons in her pocket while entering the country.

After sniffer dogs found the lemons at Auckland Airport, the woman claimed that she required them for the treatment of a liver illness she suffers from.

However, authorities followed rules “saying the fruit was forbidden by laws designed to protect domestic produce,” reported ‘Daily Mail’.

Craig Hughes, a spokesman for the Ministry of Industry New Zealand, was quoted as saying: "It doesn't justify endangering New Zealand's horticulture industry by illegally bringing in fruit that could harbour pests or diseases.”
