About 20 tonnes of dead herring have washed up on the beach in Nordreisa.
It is still not clear whether a storm washed them up on the shore or whether a predator drove them to their death, reports UK daily Guardian.
While locals are left scratching their heads as to what caused the deluge, the more pressing issue is how to clean up the beach. Meanwhile, scientists are trying to solve the riddle.
For the doomsdayers, this is yet another sign that the world is hurtling towars the apocalyptic prediction of the ancient Mayans.
