Couple nearly split by TV newsreader’s smile

A Saudi couple with children nearly ended their marriage after the wife was infuriated when her husband made a nice remark about the smile of a famous female broadcaster in the Saudi-owned satellite TV news channel Al Arabiyya.

The husband and his wife were watching news on Al Arabiyya when Suhair Al Qaisy, an Iraqi, smiled at a scene in a news report she was reading.

“The husband made an admiration comment about Qaisy’s smile, sparking a hot argument with his wife…she then packed and went to her family,” Sada Arabic language daily said in a report from the southern town of Baha.

“The families of the couple intervened later and exerted great efforts to settle the dispute.…the wife’s father assured her that Qaisy is married and has children before she agreed to return to her husband.”
