US: A man has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for having sex with a 12-year-old girl several times and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

The man forced the minor to accompany him home where he took advantage of the situation and forced her to have sex with him. The man has been charged with sexual assault of a minor and multiple counts of lewd acts upon a child, police officials told KTLA.com.

It is not clear how the man came to know the little girl. However, he did sexually assault her several times over a week. The police acted after it received a tip-off from an anonymous source.

Schoolgirl chokes to death after imitating suicide scene

KOLKATA: In a tragicincident, a grade five student tried to enact a suicide scene from a television show and choked to death in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata.

The scarf she was using for hanging herself, got entangled in the fan accidentally, police officials told Indian news channel NDTV.

The mother was in the next room when she heard her daughter groaning. Upon reaching the room she was met with the ghastly sight of her daughter hanging from the fan and slowing choking. The neighbours came rushing when the mother screamed for help.

The little girl was taken to the hospital but she succumbed to her injuries.

The channel reported that the little girl was addicted to television soaps and loved enacting scenes from serials.

There have been similar tragic deaths of India as children are often found enacting dangerous stunts of cartoon heroes.

Woman calls 911 to say: 'I ate too much food'

BRITAIN: A woman has been jailed for making a bizarre phone call to police and abruptly hanging up.

The emergency dispatchers found the woman in a motel room only to be told that she had dialed 911 because she 'ate too much food', reports Daily Mail. The 45-year-old woman was drunk and her boyfriend was ready to desert her as she was 'talking too much'.

The woman was arrested and charged for 'misuse of 911 and disorderly conduct', said the daily.

3 siblings 'stomp' brother-in-law to death

JERSEY CITY: Three New Jersey brothers have been charged with the Christmas Day beating death of their sister's husband.

Hudson County prosecutor Edward DeFazio tells the Jersey Journal newspaper the killing resulted from "an ongoing family dispute."

DeFazio says 44-year-old Jeorge Alvendia was stomped and hit with a shovel in the garage of his Jersey City home.
A criminal complaint says 44-year-old Elieser Paet beat Alvendia with a shovel while 37-year-old Francis Paet and 39-year-old Wilfred Paet kicked him.

Authorities say Alvendia's wife wasn't home during the attack but arrived soon after.

The brothers are from the Philippines. They were arrested and are being held on $500,000 cash bail. It's unclear if they have an attorney. No one answered the phone at an apartment believed to be theirs.

Man towed with car after tiff at mall

NEW DELHI: A man who refused to listen to security officers posted in a mall parking in the Indian capital had his car lifted by a crane even as he was siting inside it.

An army officer's son  refused to listen to reason as the secutiry guards told him that the parking space was full. He kept the parking entrace blocked and even hit the security guard for daring to stop him, said The Times of India.

Cops were called in as the driver refused to budge from the entrance. A crane closely followed the officials and it was put to work. The law abusing citizen was warned to move from the car and when he continued to obey orders,

Tycoon's got tons of cash, nowhere to invest

INDIA: A billionaire, Ajay Piramal, is said to be sitting tight on a mountain of cash, but can't figure out where to invest.

He told NDTV, and Indian television channel that the problem is not with opportunity but with the country as there is no transparency.  

The country is mired in corruption, bureaucratic red tape and unclear and changing government policies and a lot of billionaires are seriously thinking about taking their wealth out of India given the above reasons.

According to India's central bank figures, since 2010, Indians have invested more in businesses overseas than what the foreigners are investing in India. It reflects poorly on the country.
