Crazy World: Men sell sewage as drinking water

A Saudi woman looking through the window of her house in the Saudi capital Riyadh was shocked when she saw expatriate workers with large tanks stealing sewage water through big pipes extending underneath.

When she noticed that the tanks were emblazoned with words “drinking water”, she quickly phoned the police and then used her mobile to film them.

“When they glanced at me and saw that I had phoned the police, they stopped siphoning out water, got in their tanks and fled,” she told local newspapers.

Police and municipality authorities are searching for the tanks, which are believed to be selling sewage water as drinking water following persistent disruptions in the city’s water networks.

Worker held for trying to rape little girl

Saudi police arrested a Bangladeshi restaurant worker for trying to rape a 10-year-old girl, taking advantage of the closure of all shops for evening prayers.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided the restaurant in the southern town of Baha and seized the worker before committing his crime, Kabar newspaper said.

“They stormed the restaurant after receiving a tip off that the worker seduced the girl into the restaurant during evening prayers,” it said.

Boy killed by strong winds in Saudi

A 14-year-old Saudi boy was killed when a wall collapsed on him as he was taking shelter from strong winds that hit southern Saudi Arabia this week, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported.

The front glass of many shops and house windows were shattered while scores of commercial boards dotting roads collapsed because of the storm that swept across the southern province of Majardah.

“The boy ran and took shelter behind a wall under construction…the wall then collapsed due to the strong winds, leading to his death,”
Okaz daily said.

Student drops dead before morning class

A Saudi secondary school student standing in line with other school boys dropped dead just before entering class before the eyes of his shocked class mates, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Abdul Rahman Ahmed died just after he collapsed in the school campus in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah, Okaz Arabic language daily said.

“The ambulance arrived just after Ahmed died…the school management said it was a normal death but gave no other details,” it said.
