INDIA: In a shocking incident in a government school near the Indian city of Kolkata, a 13-year-old was stripped off by her teacher for not wearing proper uniform.
The girl's leggings were taken off in full view of all the male and female students of her class. The teacher refused to give the piece of clothing back to the student despite her tearful requests. The child went back home in a semi-clad state, reports The Times of India.
While the principal dismissed the matter as a 'minor incident' and 'not a serious matter', the parents of other children in the same class were outraged and staged a demonstration outside the school premises.
An enquiry has been initiated by the education minister of the state.
However, the teacher got off lightly after she gave a written apology and the girl's father was also made to take back his police charges.
The seventh grader is traumatised after the incident and refuses to go out of her room at home even as the other classmates are in a state of shock.
Denied ice cream, man fires at waiter
INDIA: A waiter was shot at for denying ice cream to a customer in New Delhi. A trivial dispute, where a security guard in-charge of security of wedding guests wanted to be served an ice cream on the sly. After a minor skirmish, the guard fired a smoke cartridge, thus wounding the 18-year-old waiter, reports The Times of India.
The wounded man received severe burns in his thighs. Apparently, the security guard only wanted to scare the waiter but did not know that it would lead to burn injuries.
The guard got scared when he saw the man's injuries and fled the scene. However, he was caught hiding in his native village a few hours later and arrested.
Girl poisons father, brother to death for marriage
INDIA: A young girl who fell in love with a man from a neighbouring village took the extreme step of killing her father and brother in order to get married with a man of her choice.
The couple had tried to elope a few months back but were caught by villagers. The man was thrashed by the girl's family and other villagers and warned not to show up in the vicinity, reports The Times of India.
However, after a gap of few months, the duo started meeting on the sly in the village. The man convinced the girl to kill her family members so the two could get married. He got a packet of poison and instructed the girl to add it to food and feed it to her family.
The girl mixed the poison in the food she cooked for dinner the same night. The girl's 35-year-old father and 12-year-old brother died after consuming the food. Only the girl's mother survived as she did not have dinner.
The girl was arrested on charges of murdering her father and brother in cold blood. The boyfriend and his family members disappeared into thin air even as the police officials went looking for them.
Now, a 'face-eater' chews off woman's face
CHINA: A man in China's Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province tried to gnaw off a woman's face.
The man was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. The man suddenly ran out to the main road and stopped a car approaching him. He started shouting and screaming and even banging on the car's windshields.
The woman who was driving the car made a mistake by getting out of the car in a bid to escape what seemed like a mad man. She was sobbing when she got out.
The drunken man pounced on her and started chewing her face even as passersby looked at them in shock. Some people tried to get the man off the woman driver. By the time they managed to pry them apart, the woman's face had blood all over it.
Someone informed the police and they finally managed to subdue the man.
The woman had to be taken to a hospital and she will need plastic surgery to repair the damage caused by the enraged man. The man had managed to bit off her nose and lips during the attack.
This latest incident of attempted cannibalism follows a spate of high-profile similar cases that have hogged media headlines recently, reports Asia One.
