Crazy World: Tortured 3-year-old eats own hair

LONDON: A little boy who was locked up in a dark and cold room by cruel parents in Britain was so hungry that he ate his own hair.

The three-year-old's mother and stepfather were put behind bars for ill-treating their child and keeping him locked in a bare room, reports Daily Mail.

The boy was starving and dehydrated and barely alive when he was rescued by a police officer. A social worker had had received a tip-off and passed on the information to the authorities.

Once the boy was given food to eat, a doctor told the daily that he was eating as if he had 'never eaten before'.

EVen the police officer who rescued the baby was moved to tears after seeing the boy's condition. The doctors told the court later that the boy was rescued in the nick of time as he was just 'hours away from death'.

When the neglected child was rescued he was covered in faeces and was unclothed in a dark room where the radiator was switched off, while it was snowing outside.

The boy has recovered from his ordeal and has been placed with a foster family.


 

Rat poison sold in ‘toothpaste’ pack leads to tragedy

INDIA: In a tragic incident, two children died when they brushed their teeth with rat poison, after mistaking it for toothpaste in the Indian twon of Puducherry.

The children were admitted in a hospital in a critical state and did not respond to emergency treatment, reports The Times of India.

In another case, a five-year-old girl from Thirunavalur mistook rat poison for toothpaste and brushed her teeth. She died of liver failure two days later.

Unfortunately, some brands sell rat poison in tubes that resemble popular toothpaste brands. The chemicals used in rat poison is toxic and afftecs liver, brain and kidneys.

 

Teacher fired after assigning violent math problems

WASHINGTON: Third-grade pupils of a school in Washington were assigned maths problems with violent scenarios in them. The concerned teacher has been fired after the school administration learnt about it, reports Yahoo.com.

Initially, the teacher who was under fire laid the blame at someone else's door and said he was asked to assign the problems, but later the school administration found out that the instructor had downloaded them from a website.

here are a couple of examples of the kind of violent questions that were handed out to the seven and eight year old students.

"I was sleeping one night when a hungry vampire sucked 3652 liters of blood from me and 1865 liters of blood from my little brother. How much blood did the hungry vampire drink that night?"

Another reads:

"I took a nap in a bog one day and woke up screaming. 3796 leeches, 2910 fleas and 1044 vampire bats were stuck to my bald head drinking my blood in ecstasy. How many bloodthirsty bloodsuckers were dining on my head?"

 

12-year-old raped; body dumped in gunny bag

INDIA: A schoolgirl who was returning home in the evening in Thane (near Mumbai) was abducted by an unknown man and raped.

The girl was taken to an isolated spot and sexually assaulted and killed so she could not reveal the culprit's name, reports news agency Press Trust of India.
The 12-year-old girl's body was found dumped inside a gunny bag outside someone's house.

The police is looking for the man who committed the crime and disappeared.

 

Couple, with combined age of 191, tie the knot

US: 95-year-old Lillian Hartley and 98-year-old Allan Marks set a new record when the got married in Palm Springs in California. The two, who call themselves the "Romeo and Juliet of senior citizens," have lived 191 years, 126 days between them, reports The Desert Sun.

The newly-married couple beat the previous record set by a French couple.

The couple, who call themselves the 'Rome and Juliet of senior citizens' first met in 1994. The woman was not interested in a relationship, but the man spent about 18 years trying to woo her.

The duo used the extra day in this leap year to get married.
