Dad celebrates 40 Christmases with 1 tree waiting for son

An elderly man has celebrated 40 Christmases with one tree.

Neil Olson had put one up in 1974 when one of his sons had gone to war and had vowed not to take it down until all his six children returned to his Wisconsin home for Christmas, reported yahoo.com.

Olson's oldest son was injured in Vietnam war and his disability prevents him from travelling to his dad's home from Washington state for Christmas. He, however, talks to his 89-year-old dad regularly.

The large multi-coloured lights are about 100-years old, according to Olson. The tree has become a home furniture, said one of his sons.
