Dead cockroaches in two pineapple cans

A Saudi man with a taste for pineapple bought four cans and was about to devour the first one when he abruptly stopped and stared in disbelief at the brown thing marring the yellow colour of the juicy fruit— a dead cockroach.

His surprise turned into a shock when he found another dead cockroach in the second can. He was so disgusted that he did not dare open the rest.

“The man quickly returned to the supermarket and informed them but they refused to admit the cans were bought from there,” Sabq Arabic language newspaper said, adding that the man sent pictures of the cans to the paper to publicize them for the authorities.  

Couple to be lashed for beating child

A Saudi man and his wife will be flogged 30 times each after a court found them guilty of beating his five-year-old son.

The court also gave them a suspended one year prison provided they memorize parts of the Koran in one year.

“Police investigation showed the child was beaten by his step mother and taken to hospital by his uncle,” Ajel daily said in a report from the southern town of Najran, adding that the boy’s mother had been divorced from his father.
