Deer saved on busy Kuwaiti motorway

Kuwaiti police and civil defence men had to test their ability to run when they tried to catch a stray deer trying to cross a busy motorway in the oil-rich Gulf emirate. After a marathon chase that forced some of them to give up, they managed to capture it.

The deer was spotted by a senior police officer who was driving on the sixth Ring Road just outside the capital Kuwait City, Alwatan daily said.

“He phoned the police and the civil defence…several patrols came to the scene and blocked the traffic on both directions as the deer was trying to cross over,” it said.

“They then stepped out of their cars and chased the deer on foot…in the end, they succeeded in catching the animal and saving its life,” the paper said without making clear where the deer had come from.
