Dh231m million lottery prize not claimed

Luck may have run out for the winner of a California Lottery jackpot: The person has apparently let $63 million (Dh231 million) slip through their fingers.

Lottery officials say the six-month deadline to claim the prize expired at 5 p.m. Thursday without anyone producing the winning ticket or making a verified claim.

However, at least one person is suing, claiming he submitted the winning ticket but was refused the prize.

If no claim is verified, the money goes to the state's schools.

It's the largest unclaimed prize in California history - dwarfing the previous record of $28.5 million from a 2003 game.

The SuperLotto Plus ticket was sold on Aug. 8 at a 7-Eleven store in Los Angeles. The winning numbers were: 46-1-33-30-16 and the Meganumber: 24.
