A wedding was called off in the Indian city of Bangalore over serving the wrong biryani (a meat and rice dish). The groom of the wedding that did not happen, works in Dubai.

The groom's family wanted to be served mutton/lamb biryani during the wedding. However, they were served chicken biryani and the switch infuriated them, which led to a massive falling out between the two groups and finally the wedding was called off by the fiesty bride, according to a report in The Times of India.

The marriage could not take place in the mosque in Bangalore even though the elders in the family tried to cool matters through mediation. However, the 20-year-old bride was adamant and said no to the groom whom she had not even met. The girl thought marrying into such a family could be a recipe for disaster.

Later, the bride's family members claimed that they did not dare get their daughter married into a family that could not arrive at a compromise over such inconsequential matters.

No police reports were filed by either parties and local police officials also did not intervene as they felt that it would cut off all future prospects of a negotiation.

On  a lighter note, the incident (which went viral on the internet) has led many netizens to wonder what happened to the 30kg worth of chicken biryani that was prepared for the wedding guests.
