A Saudi man went with his wife to stay with his parents for a few days and left his newly bought car outside without taking his wife’s jewellery and nearly SR40,000 out of the vehicle. A few hours later, the car was gone.

Stunned by its sudden disappearance, Khaled Al Subai contacted the police but got no satisfaction. He was later told by a friend to call the car finance firm.

“At first, they denied having my car, but they later admitted taking it,” the 35-year-old man told the Saudi daily Ajel.

“I then went to their office to get it back but they said I must pay SR500 fee. I refused and reported them to the police,” he added.

In its report from the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah, 'Ajel' said the man later got back his car but did not clear if he paid the fee.
