Whoever claimed that animals don't have emotions, couldn't have been farther off the mark.

Recently a good bye scene between a giraffe and a handler touched the global online community. The giraffe bid farewell to his handler, who was dying of cancer. The emotions that were so heart-breaking was there for everyone to see as the farewell was beautifully captured on camera.

The handler, called Mario, was being taken into Rotterdam’s Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo when the tall animal went up to him to 'nudge' him and bid his final goodbye. The giraffe obviously sensed that his handler was not well.

“You could see him totally light up,” Kees Veldboer, founder and director of Ambulance Wish Foundation, told a Dutch newspaper, Algemeen Dagblad.

“It’s very special to see that those animals recognise him, and sense that he isn’t doing well,” he said.

Mario was employed as a maintenance worker at the zoo.
