Honeymoon is over… wife demands divorce

An Emirati woman returned with her husband from their honeymoon holiday abroad and went straight to the court in Ras Al Khaimah to file for divorce, saying he wanted to have sex with her in an illegitimate way.

The family dispute office in the northern emirate tried to reach out-of-court settlement but the wife appeared adamant in having a divorce.

The office sent the case back to the personal affairs court, which held its first session on Wednesday to consider the divorce request.

“The wife insisted on divorce but her husband refused to divorce her…she told court that he insisted in the first days of their honeymoon of having sex with her in an illegitimate and forbidden way,” Emirat Alyoum daily said, adding that the court adjourned hearings to next month.
