Kuwaiti police have arrested a local government employee for forging official documents showing he has 63 children from one wife in a bid to get the citizenship for them, newspapers in the Gulf emirate reported Thursday.
Immigration authorities discovered the forged documents after checking numerous applications made by the man for visas to make money.
Investigation showed the unidentified man, a Kuwaiti immigration department employee, had issued 17 visas under the sponsorship of his sons.
“The investigation then led to more violations,” Alanba daily quoted a police official as saying.
“We found forged documents showing the man has 63 children with one mother...some of them are born in the same year but are not twins.”
The papers said police had also found that the man had previously been convicted in a forgery case and sentenced to three years in prison.
Authorities decided to strip the man off his citizenship for forgery, according to the papers, which did not say what will happen to his presumed children.
