Lightening caught on camera striking Saudi town

Lightning struck a densely-populated neighborhood in a Saudi city for more than one minute, triggering panic and prompting residents to seek shelter inside their homes.

An 81-second U-tube film carried in a local newspaper showed the Duweima area in the western town of Madina looked like a ghost town as fierce lightning engulfed the area on Saturday night and the neighbourhood was plunged into darkness after lighting knocked off power. There were no reports of casualties.

Alsaudi newspaper quoted the person who shot the film as saying:” They were really frightening moments suffered by the residents…I was awaken by the powerful flash of lights and the thuds of thunder..I used my mobile phone to record such an incident.”
