Man offered Dh3m for car plate in Saudi

Published

A low-paid Egyptian worker in Saudi Arabia was offered SR3 million (Dh3 million) for his car plate as it carries a special number but he rejected the offer, saying he does not to betray his relation with the car.

Hisham Al Bili, with a monthly salary of SR4,000 (Dh4,000), said he had received the old car from a Saudi friend and that it is now worth just around SR12,000 (Dh12,000).

“I received this car as a gift 16 years ago…I refused to sell the car and its plate for SR3m because I want to be faithful to our friendship,” he said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic news network Alarabiya.

“I have received quite many offers to buy my car…they started with SR200,000 and ended at SR3m…I now stopped using it and move by taxis to avoid being stopped on the road by people who ask me to sell it.”

A picture published in the Saudi daily Ajel showed the car has a plate number “SSS1” but it was not clear where Bili lives in Saudi Arabia.
