A housewife in Egypt has been arrested on charges of soliciting for her daughter.
The woman, who is divorced from her husband, is accused of forcing their 17-year-old daughter into prostitution, reported Al Mesryoon newspaper.
The incident came to light when the girl’s dad filed a complaint with Al Salam police station of Nasr City that his ex-wife was forcing his daughter to entertain men in exchange of money.
He claimed that he had divorced the woman last year because of her ‘immoral behaviour’. He added that he let his ex-wife have custody of the girl because she was young and that he contributed (Egyptian) £200 (Dh120) as alimony per month.
He discovered the child’s misfortune on one of his visits to meet her, when the teenager pleaded with him to take her along. The girl recalled her unpleasant experiences with men and complained about her mother, he told cops.
Meanwhile, the woman showed no remorse upon arrest and said that she had to take the extreme step in order to earn money to survive.
