A shark, whose ancestry dates almost 80 million years, was caught in the waters off South Eastern Victoria.

The rare and bizarre find looks pre-historic and could be responsible for some ancient myths about sea monsters, reports abc.net.au

Known as the ‘frilled’ shark, it has more than 300 teeth in over 25 rows. Its head and body resembles an eel, while its tail is more reminiscent of a shark.

Also known as a ‘living fossil’, it was caught at 700 meters on a fishing trawler and fishermen were clueless of the catch.

The unpleasant looking hideous find is reportedly sold.
