Saudi doctors saved the life of a four-year-old local girl after she swallowed a battery which settled inside her esophagus, a newspaper said on Friday.

Her parents had rushed the girl to the hospital in the southern Khamis Mushait town after noticing her face went pale and she was having breathing difficulty.

X-ray images showed a little battery had settled inside the girl’s esophagus, prompting doctors to perform an urgent operation to the remove the object, according to the Saudi Arabic language daily Sada.
