Alan 'Nasty' Nash has been crowned Toe Wrestling Champion for the 14th time.

The World Toe Wrestling Championships, which follows the rules of arm wrestling but with feet, was held at Bentley Brook Inn, Fenny Bentley, in Derbyshire at the weekend.

Mr Nash, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent, won the men's competition and Rebecca Beech won the women's title, the BBC reports.

Speaking about winning the bizarre contest, which has been running since the 1970s, Mr Nash said: "That was just a walk in the park again - normal day at the office."

On the day, competitors have their feet checked over by a podiatrist before the contest heats start.

The wrestlers compete in best-of-three knockout rounds until there is eventually a winner crowned.

Wendy Livingstone, general manager of the Bentley Brook Inn, said: "It's weird and wonderful, another one of England's eccentric sports."
