Unborn baby's fingernail almost kills mum

A pair of premature twins, born five weeks early, had to struggle hard to keep their hold on life. They had to be resuscitated with oxygen as soon as they entered the world.

However, it was not only the tiny tots who were struggling for their lives. Their mother almost lost her life when a miniscule nail or hair from one of the twins entered her bloodstream during delivery.

The rare condition, which affects only one in 80,000 births, caused 32-year-old school teacher to suffer severe internal bleeding and her lungs collapsed, reports Australian website News.com.au.

Fortunately for the new mother, the doctors realised in time exactly what was going wrong with the mother.
