Video: Watch Pakistan fan go crazy after 'Boom-Boom' sixer

Few cricketers impact a crowd as much as Pakistan’s all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

Over the last two years though, Afridi had gone off the boil, as it were, letting his nick-name ‘Boom-Boom’ slip a bit.
But if you are going to make a comeback as a Pakistani cricketer there is no better match to do it in than against India.

Afridi tore into the Indian bowling attack taking the match down to the wire and then batting Pakistan to a famous win in the Asia Cup in Bangladesh on Sunday, March 2.

A measure of Afridi’s impact and fan following can be seen in this Youtube video.

Though there is no verification of where it was taken, the uploader cites the man going crazy at the time Afridi hit a six – early in the innings, in fact.

Boy killed in celebration

In a celebration that had a sadder end, AFP reported that a boy was killed by jubilant firing in the air, courtesy Afridi’s two sixes off the final.
Celebrations were marred by tragedy in the southern city of Hyderabad where the boy was killed, senior police official Mir Farid Jan Sarhandi told AFP.

Paramilitary Rangers were eventually called in to disperse jubilant youngsters in parts of Karachi.
Property tycoon Malik Riaz announced he would give Afridi a residential plot in a newly built housing scheme in Karachi, saying the all-rounder has made the nation proud.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi said the win would lift Pakistan at international level.
