Wedding cancelled over mum’s name in card

A couple decided to split and cancel the wedding after the groom’s mother insisted on having her name included in the invitation card. 

The bride’s family had resisted the idea but the woman insisted on having her name printed in the card, hundreds of which were sent out to relatives and other guests. 

“When they saw the card, the bride’s family decided to cancel the wedding, which was scheduled for the next day,” Al Saudeh Arabic language newspaper said in a report from the western Red Sea port of Jeddah. “It was an awkward and embarrassing situation as the cards have already reached all invitees.”
