A two-year-old boy was mauled to death after falling into an African wild dog pit at the Pittsburg Zoo.

In a hear-wrenching plea the toddlers family asked mourners to sent in his favourite toys instead of flowers. And so toy construction trucks have been pouring in at the funeral home, reported Daily Mail. More than 3,000 have already been donated.

Investigations continue into the child’s death. The boy's mother placed him on the rail and he somehow slipped away, bounced off a small net and fell about 10 feet more into the enclosed exhibit, the report added.

According to medical reports, the toddler survived the fall but bled to death later.
