Woman claims seatbelts are 'racist to fat people'

A woman has claimed seatbelts are "racist to fat people" as her size prevents her from being able to wear the legally required safety strap.

The anonymous woman from New Zealand was filmed driving without wearing her seatbelt because she "can't fit it", and has said the police are "racist" toward overweight people if they give her a fine for not wearing the legally required safety strap.

She said in a video filmed by a passenger in the car: "I can't fit it, so what's the point in wearing it if I can't fit it. If they're going to give me a fine for not fitting my seatbelt, that's just being racist, to the fat people.

"They're just being racist, like what do they think the whole world is skinny or something? What about the big people?"

When one passenger points out seatbelt sizing isn't racist as overweight people aren't a race, the woman insisted she would "sue" if anything happened to her.

She continued: "I could actually sue, like what if I crash, and something happens to me because the seatbelt couldn't go around me."

The video has been viewed half a million times since it surfaced on the internet, and many people commenting on the clip have noted that seatbelt extenders are available so car users of all sizes can uphold the law.
