Women in Saudi city don’t know of #911

Most women in a Saudi city were found that they do not know the emergency elephone numbers of the police and civil defence in the Gulf kingdom while almost all of them do not have fire extinguishers at home.

A survey conducted by Arar News Arabic language nerwspaper in the northern town of Arar showed the majority of women call their husbands or fathers in case of emergency or accident at home. It also found that 31 homes do not have any first aid tools.

The survey, involving 36 families, found that 35 homes have no fire extinguishers while 28 women do not know the police or civil defence emergency telephone numbers. 

“If we assume that a child had an accident at home and the woman called her husband, who in turn rushed back home and phoned the emergency number, then it could be over before help even arrives,” the paper said.
