Kid rented out forced to beg and eat faeces

A greedy set of parents in China who had rented out their young child for 5,000 yuan (S$968) to an acrobatic troupe in return for money learnt years later about the abuses meted out to her.

The child was not only physically abused but also made to beg and eat faeces, reports Asia One.

The couple who are poor and live in a remote village in China received a total of 10,000 yuan in cash as rent for their child for three years.

The eight-year-old child was returned with a string of injury marks on her body. A video uploaded onto Chinese video streaming site, Youku, shows the many injuries inflicted, reports the news website.

When the parents got the child back from the performing troupe, the father of the child noticed that there were two large clumps of hair missing from the girl's head. Her entire body was scarred. Her ears, nose and tongue had been cut and there was a "large bulge" on her lower back, the father told the site.

The child was suffering from emotional trauma and the couple received a further 2,000 yuan as compensation from the troupe boss for the torturous behaviour.

The father is receiving a lot of flak from outraged people who are blaming him for renting out a little child. However, the father in his defence says that they were poor and renting the child out was a means of earning and reducing the financial burden.
