A man with a prosthetic leg saved the day at a Boston convenience store when he tripped a robber attempting to escape.

Steve Cornell was at an ATM outside the store on Wednesday night when he noticed the owner was being robbed at gunpoint.

"I waited until (the robber) came outside the door and I kind of pounced on him," Cornell told The Boston Globe.

Cornell and the store owner held down the robber until cops arrived on the scene.

The 55-year-old father of two has worn a prosthetic leg since he was 12, when he had an accident trying to jump on to a freight train. He said he would accost more robbers if given the opportunity.

"I might think a little longer on it, but I would," he told the Globe.

Police arrested and charged Eric F. Homan, 23, with armed robbery as well as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Thursday and is being held without bail, WHDH reported.
