Royal Mail postman Andrew Goater couldn’t fathom the danger lurking behind the door of a Portsmouth house when he slipped his hand in to drop a mail, for he only knew about getting chased by dogs.
What he got was a bad scratch from Lana, a tortoiseshell cat. And Goater couldn’t help but report back to base, reported Daily Mail.
With the postman scratched by a cat, Royal Mail promptly wrote to the house owner Carl White threatening to suspend all mail deliveries until the feline is controlled and kept away.
Lana has been living with the Whites for 18 months and is a “docile” cat, according to her master.
She however positions herself near the mail opening on the main door which is six inches above the floor and must have playfully scratched the postman, White admits.
Mails are now handed over to the Whites if Goater spots them at the door.
