Dog gobbles up soccer donations

You've heard the line, "The dog ate my homework." Well, for one man in Seattle, it's a case of, "My dog ate the money."

Bill Fry couldn't believe his good fortune when he woke up one morning to find a crisp $50 bill sitting on his deck. But that joy turned to panic when he discovered that found money came from an empty envelope inside his own home.

Fry is the president of the West Seattle Soccer Club. That envelope had $1500 from soccer fundraising. It didn't take long to sniff out the suspected "thief" - his own dog.

"It must have been a great smell. But he reached his nose up. In fact, he would have had to put his paws up on a dresser to get it. Grabbed the envelope," Fry explained.

Cosmo is Fry's 5-year-old dog, who did his best to bury his new treasures.

"And I saw a spot where Cosmo had dug. I started digging here, and I barely got below the surface, and I got a lot of bills and dirt," said Fry.

He even found a new baseball. Unfortunately, there was no trace of the $900 worth of checks, and only about half of the $600 in cash was found.

"So, we're just convinced that he ate it," said Fry.

About two days later, Cosmo made a final "deposit." Two halves of a $50 bill were found.

Fry is promising to make good on all the losses, but he is asking soccer parents who paid by check to send a replacement.
