Google Doodle celebrates Children's Day...
Google is celebrating the International Children’s day with a doodle that depicts children of different ethnicity joining hands, even as search engines get their act together in protecting child abuse images.
November 20 is being observed as the Universal Children’s Day, although different countries have their own celebrations marked on other days.
India for example observes Children’s Day on November 14, marking the birth anniversary of its first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Google had also replaced its custom logo with a doodle designed by a class 10 student in India. Gayatri Ketharaman, who designed the theme "Sky's the limit for Indian women" was also the winner of the fifth edition of Doodle 4 Google competition.
Meanwhile Google along with other search engines including Microsoft Bing and Yahoo have agreed to implement strict mechanisms that will see images of child abuse blocked.
Daily Mail quoted Google’s chief executive Eric Schmidt as saying that more than 100,000 queries are being blocked so that it can prevent illegal content
“that might be related to the sexual abuse of kids” will be blocked.
In addition about 13,000 search terms will send out warnings informing the user about the illegality and these changes will also be incorporated into 150 languages soon.
