He had one shot and he took it. Jeff Thomason may not make PETA’s person of the month, but in fishing circles, and beyond, he is already legend.

The host of hunting show ‘Predator Pursuit’ landed an 11-foot, 809-pound Mako shark - using a bow and arrow.

According to a report in The Daily Mail Thomason spent 30 minutes coaxing the shark towards his boat off the coast of Los Angeles, California.

The marine giant was so heavy, it needed five crew members o haul the fish back to shore.

Thomason donated 400 pounds of the meat to a homeless shelter nearby.

Mako sharks are among the fastest sharks in the world, with a top swimming speed of 60mph and an average of 35mph.

Bowfishing is an ancient practice dating back to the Filipino Negritos, who shot freshwater fish with barbed arrows from canoes.
