Very few lucky people can boast of turning their dreams into reality, and one among them is Umm Al Quwain’s Amnah Al Fard.

After winning numerous honours in the UK and US, Amnah was determined to find global recognition.

“Once you win on those platforms, you can’t participate in the same contest again. And, I wanted to do more, hence the decision to attempt the Guinness record.”

Within a month since Emirates 24|7 caught up with the Emirati artist, she has been honoured with the Guinness World Record.

“I'm happy to inform you that I have successfully earned the first world record for ‘the largest display of handmade dolls’,” she announced through e-mail.

“It is now official that this is a new Guinness World Record.”

Thirty-seven-year-old Amnah, despite her ill-health and recurring cough, has spent the last two years in creating her collection of 1,145 miniature dolls.

“The requirement for Guinness record was to make 1,000 dolls but I ended up making 145 more.”

Each doll, she claimed, took her nearly three hours to create.

“No one from Umm Al Quwain has ever won a world record, so this will be a good way of putting it on the world map. Inshallah.”

Her prayers have since been answered.
