They lived together... died together: 100-yr-old man dies; wife falls over him within moments

An ageing Saudi couple who had vowed to live and die together when they married more than seven decades ago had their dream fulfilled this week.

The husband, aged around 100 years, was on his way to the nearby mosque when he dropped dead on Wednesday. Moments later, his wife fell on him and died.

The couple, who are survived by more than 200 children and grandchildren, were the first inhabitants of their tiny village of Abu Lahab in the southern province of Jazan.

One of their grand sons who visited them three days before their death said the couple told him they felt they are about to die and hoped they would go together.

“They told me that they prayed to God that they would die together as they had lived together,” the unnamed grandson said, quoted by Sabq newspaper.

“Three days later, my grandfather was walking towards the mosque when he dropped and died…my grandmother, aged around 90 years, hurried to see him…she tried to lift him up but then dropped on him and died…they had lived a life full of love, affection, sacrifice and faithfulness…it seems God the Almighty finally fulfilled their wish.”
