AC Milan are plotting a move for Manchester city duo Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli by selling unhappy Brazil international Alexandre Pato during the January transfer window.

This is despite Rossonerri coach Massimiliano Allegri insisting in Dubai that he wants Pato to remain at Milan.

"AC Milan have other strikers stronger than Carlos Tevez and we are not looking for Tevez at least for now," said Allegri at the launch of the Dubai Football Challenge against PSG on Tuesday.

The Italian club want to sign Tevez and also have their eye on a summer swoop for Balotelli, according to The Sun.

To get the £45 million needed, the cash-strapped Italian giants must sell Brazilian front man Pato who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain after enduring an injury-blighted 2011, in which persistent fitness problems restricted his role in the squad.

PSG are in pole position to land the 22-year-old who is also a target of Chelsea boss Andres Villas-Boas.

New PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti tried to sign Pato while he was at the Blues and owner Roman Abramovich is a great admirer.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has insisted there are currently no talks with PSG over Pato's future but he did not say the striker was not for sale.

Galliani insisted Tevez has told City he only wants to join Milan, though reports in Italy suggest cross-town rivals Inter are still in the hunt.

Galliani said: "The negotiations are very much alive.

"Manchester insist on a loan with an obligation to buy and we insist on a loan with the right to buy."

Milan want to pay City £20m for Tevez but over equal annual payments.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic speaking in Dubai on Sunday welcomed the move to bring Tevez to San Siro. "I'm happy if he comes because it would bring quality and confidence to the strikers. It makes the situation more competitive. We already have many strikers so if he comes there will be even more. For sure he'll do a great job and be an extra weapon for us. Everybody knows what kind of player he is, he would bring extra quality to the team, but he hasn't been training for three months so I don't know what shape he's in," he said.

Balotelli has long been linked with a move back to Italy, but has played down the prospect of leaving the Etihad Stadium despite interest from Serie A.

"Inter's president Massimo Moratti said he would take me back in an instant," Balotelli said, according to The People.

"I thank him, but I don't want to leave Manchester City right now. I am not thinking about returning to Italy for the time being, even though I have already spoken to AC Milan and Inter.

"As for Napoli, I like the city of Naples. But there are other teams in England and in Spain that attract me."

Balotelli joined City in August 2010 from Inter. He has since scored 21 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for the club.
