All talk may be about Theo Walcott’s future at Arsenal and the lack of a striker of Drogba’s class at Chelsea, but the biggest deal yet between the two clubs is likely to involve a goalkeeper.
According to Fanatix Arsenal are on the verge of an agreement with the Blues for their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to go on loan to the Emirates next season.
The site, quoting, Football Espana, state that the Blues want their young Belgian goalkeeper, seen as the eventual successor to Petr Cech to get used to football in England’s top flight.
Courtois has had two excellent seasons with Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Wenger has backed Wojciech Szczesny, but is still not convinced about his goal-keeping options.
Leaking as many as five goals against Reading might prompt Wenger to look at Courtois as a long-term option, starting with an on-loan tenure.
According to some British press reports West Ham are also keen to swoop for Courtois.
