Man City set to put lid on Tevez saga

Carlos Tevez’s football future will be resolved on Monday once and for all with or without the rebel striker attending a summit between Manchester City officials and the player’s representatives.
City had ordered their AWOL (Absent Without leave) superstar, who was charged with misconduct and fined two-weeks’ wages following his refusal to warm up during a Champions League game against Bayern Munich in September, to return to the club on Friday, but extended the deadline until Monday.
Club officials fear he may never return to Manchester from his unauthorised family trip to Argentina to face further disciplinary proceedings.
But whether he is present or absent, his advisors and City plan to talk and thrash out a solution.
Both sides are in agreement on one major point - the stand-off situation cannot go on any longer with a player valued at £40 million, according to ESPNsoccernet.
City could either sack him or let him go, possibly on loan until a sale can go through in the January transfer window.
Tevez’s relationship with manager Roberto Mancini has broken down. Mancini has told Tevez he won’t pick him until he apologises, and the player refuses to do so.
The whole issue has come to a head with the Tevez camp threatening to have his contract cancelled by asking Fifa to apply Article 15 of their regulations, which allows a player who has been banished from the first team to terminate his contract under ‘sporting just cause’ if he appears in fewer than 10 per cent of his club’s games in a season.
Meanwhile Boca Juniors and Inter Milan are lining up to sign the troubled Argentina striker.
Boca Juniors’ iconic playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme says he is doing his best to persuade Tevez to rejoin the Buenos Aires giant.
Riquelme says he tries to persuade Tevez to return to Boca “every time” they speak, AP reported.
Tevez made his professional debut with Boca in 2001, winning the league title and Copa Libertadores during his time at the club.
Inter president Massimo Moratti will make formal contact with City this week to propose a £30 million January move.
The Italian outfit lie fourth from bottom of Serie A with just eight points from nine games and Moratti is ready to strike a blow in the transfer market to revive his sides fortunes.
Moratti has already contacted Tevez’s agent Kia Joorabchian and will now speak to City and Mancini, who has been in Abu Dhabi this week to discuss the Tevez turmoil with the club’s owners, after putting himself in sole charge of pulling off the deal.
