Newly mega rich French club Paris Saint Germain are considering a stunning double swoop of disgruntled Premier League stars Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.

England ace Lampard is on the brink of being reunited with former Chelsea boss Carlos Ancelotti, according to The People.

PSG backed by Qatar Investment Authority's £37 billion have also been targeting Manchester City's wantaway striker Carlos Tevez and AC Milan's Alexandre Pato.

Now they are looking at Rooney, also a target of Manchester City, after a straining of relationship between the Manchester United star and manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney was fined and dropped for United's defeat against Blackburn Rovers before returning for their 3-0 loss against Newcastle in which he was substituted.

PSG are one of only a handful of clubs who could afford the Premier League’s big earners.

Ancelotti said: “Everyone goes for Lionel Messi of Barcelona but I would take Rooney. He puts his talent out to the rest of the team.”

But he is contracted to Old Trafford until 2015. The French league leaders may have to match or beat his present earnings of £200,000 a week.

The transfer fee is likely to shatter the British record set by Fernando Torres’s £50 million move from Liverpool to Chelsea a year ago.

However, on Friday night Rooney tweeted: “My future is with Manchester United and the club and I are totally committed to each other.

“The manager and I have no issues and anyone who says different don’t know what they are talking about.”

Lampard, known to be unsettled at Chelsea under new boss André Villas-Boas, has 18 months left of his Stamford Bridge contract, which earns him £150,000 a week.

But Chelsea won’t stand in his way if he wants to quit Stamford Bridge before then.

Although it’s unlikely Lampard will leave in the January transfer window, a summer exit appears more likely with Chelsea adamant they have no plans to extend his current contract, according to  Mirror Football.

The 33 year-old England midfielder has been largely used as an impact player by although he has been in prolific form.

Both LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls have made discreet enquiries about his availability.
