Arsenal fans are gaining notoriety for chanting abuse at players who switch allegiance from Emirates Stadium.

Despite pleas from Arsene Wenger to lay off former Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor, they have been at it again during the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp slammed Arsenal fans who chanted vile abuse at Adebayor.

‘The Sun’ reported that some sick travelling fans had taunted the Togo striker who survived a murderous ambush at the African Nations Cup last year (https://bit.ly/oOU3Cd).

They sang: “It should have been you - shot dead in Angola, it should have been you.”

Redknapp said: “How do you chant something disgusting like that? You can’t be right mentally, you need help.

“There’s kids up there. What’s that kid going to become? I dread to think. I don’t know what you can do especially when they get into a big crowd like that. It has no place in football, no place in life.”

Adebayor made his name at Arsenal before switching to Manchester City famously running the length of the pitch to celebrate a goal against his former club last season.

There were also disgusting chants aimed at managers of both clubs, the report added.

France international Samir Nasri was at the receiving end just days before his imminent departure to Manchester City and tweeted that Arsenal fans were "disrespectful".
