Wenger’s Arsenal raid for Spurs’ Lloris, Liverpool’s Reina

Arsenal defensive woes are not least because of their inability to tie down a solid goal-keeping choice.

Wojciech Szczesny and Vito Mannone have both battled on manfully. But neither provides Arsene Wener with a sure-shot Number 1.

Come January, Wenger may make his move for a goal-keeper and has not one, but two stoppers in his sights.

This first is Tottenham Hotspur’s French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Signed for £12million from Lyon, Lloris has started just one Barclays Premier League game for Spurs, and was quoted in the Daily Mail ahead of Saturday's derby clash with Arsenal as saying, “I feel much at ease at the club but then again everything is possible.

“The coach of Tottenham has made his choice. I'm training and I do the maximum but it is difficult and hard to accept.”

That will surely put the people at the Emirates on alert.

The other goal-keeper Wenger is reported to be considering is Pepe Reina over at Arsenal.

Liverpool coach is increasingly leabing towards Australian Brad Jones over Reina.

The Metro quoted Reina as previously admitting: 'Arsenal had made their determination to sign me clear by offering £20m, a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper. Part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future even if I did so with a heavy heart.”
