300 Jumeirah Golf Estate villas ready next year

132KV-dedicated power substation; infrastructure ready in 2012: Nakheel

Jumeirah Golf Estate, the luxury residential golf community, will witness the completion of its dedicated power substation, infrastructure work and more than 300 villas — all before the end of next year, 'Emirates24|7' can reveal.

Work has already started on the 132KV power substation and is expected to be completed next year, a Nakheel spokesman told this website.

The company also expects completion of 160 villas in Whispering Pines in November 2012, while 99 villas in the Flame Tree Ridge and 47 mansions in Fireside are likely to be finished in December 2012.

The spokesman added that Alstom, the French multinational conglomerate, will be the contractor responsible for the construction, testing and commissioning of the main 132KV substation.

“The substation is 64 per cent complete. Work on the substation commenced in August with completion due during 2012.”

Ascon Road Construction, an ETA–Ascon–Star Group company, has commenced work on the main infrastructure undertaking works associated with the main ring road, district roads as well as underground utilities such as water, irrigation and sewage systems.

Overall, the main infrastructure works have progressed to approximately 57 per cent with progress expected to “ramp up” considerably in the coming months.

“Electrical works are due to commence during this quarter with applications to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority having already been submitted for design,” the spokesman revealed.

Laing O'Rourke, a UK-based privately owned construction solutions provider, has re-mobilized at site and is responsible for delivering all 160 villas in the Whispering Pines district — a community of three- and four-bedroom villas, all in the Tuscan style.

“The infrastructure works within the district are progressing swiftly as well.

The project is 43 per cent complete based on physical progress and completion is expected in November 2012,” the spokesman added.

On the built-form, Dubai-based Al Nekhreh Contracting has resumed work on the Flame Tree Ridge and Fireside districts with completion of 99 villas on Flame Tree Ridge and 47 Mansions at Fireside, respectively, by December next year.

Completion status for Flame Tree Ridge and Fireside are 46 per cent and 55 per cent, respectively, based on physical progress.

With five-bedroom villas lying at the boundary between the Fire and Earth courses, Flame Tree Ridge offers views of both the courses and is planted with numerous “delonix regia” — the vibrant flame tree famous for its brilliant orange-red flowers, according to JGE website.

Fireside, the company says, is the most prestigious of all its developments and is designed by Greg Norman. It consists of 66 five- and six-bedroom homes built around tranquil sunken gardens and tiered fountains.

In June, Nakheel confirmed that the Dubai government was to provide funding for completion of the development, covering an area of 1119 hectares. However, work has been suspended on two (Water and Wind) of the four courses in 2009.
