Four of world’s tallest residences in Marina

Within a few metres of each other in Dubai Marina, stand the world’s three tallest residential towers.

A fourth is in the same area, but a few hundred metres away.

The 107-storey, 414-meter Princess Tower currently holds the title of world’s tallest residential tower in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat rankings.

Tameer, the developer, is awaiting the same recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Emirates 24|7 is the first to take you exclusively to the 99th floor – the top floor of the tower and bring you the 360-degree panoramic views (see pics).

And besides the Marina, you can see a barcode portrayal of Jumeirah Beach Residence and Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Sheikh Zayed Road, and a complete view of the Palm Jumeirah.

At the developer’s site office, property owners trickle in to go ahead with the snagging process of their apartments.

“I am just looking forward to the day I get the keys of my apartment. I am going stay… I am not going rent it,” says Marc, a British investor, who has bought an apartment in the tower.

Marvel in concrete and steel

According to information provided to this website by Tameer, 90,000m3 of concrete and 19,500 tonne of steel have been used in the building, while it took over 17 million man hours for completion.

The tower has 13 elevators, with the elevator speed at six metres per second.

The biggest challenge in terms of logistics involved was man and material movement due to the extreme size of the project: six basements below ground and 100 levels above ground.

Princess Tower has a total of 763 units which includes one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses.

It has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gymnasium, sauna, billiards room, table tennis room, a multifunction room on the 97th floor, children’s play area and car parking space for 957 vehicles.

Even though Tameer specialises in building tall towers - 381-metre Elite Residence - the third tallest residential tower in the world, the company has no plans to replicating the same towers in other parts of the world.

A company official says: “One thing is for certain, those staying in Princess Tower will continue to be residents of the tallest residential tower till the next one comes up.

“And I don’t expect anything for the next four to five years.”
