Germany-based GKD - Gebr. Kufferath, one of the leading technical weaving mills in the world, sees strong potential in the Middle East region despite the impact of global financial crisis, said a senior company official.

In order to capitalise on upcoming growth opportunities, the company aims to be closer to its clientele and opened its own branch in Dubai in 2004.

“We have succeeded till date with more than 100 completed projects in UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon,” said Wasim Kudsi, General Manager of GKD Gebr. Kufferath - Middle East.

In 1999, architects and builders in the Middle East discovered the potentials of CreativeWeave, metallic architectural and design fabric made by GKD.  In order to stay constantly abreast of the rapid changes going on here, GKD, after years of successful presence in the UAE, finally opened its own branch in Dubai seven years ago.

Founded in 1925, GKD has systematically developed from being a supplier of standard woven wire cloth to architectural woven meshes which can be used both internally and externally.

“We are able to sustain ourselves in the crisis due to our customer relations and a consistent policy of ongoing innovation. We have also managed to stay in the lime light. That’s not all, we every year participate in ‘Project Qatar’ in Doha, ‘Saudi Build’ in Riyadh, ‘Big 5’ in Dubai. These events and exhibitions are not only providing us with unique opportunities to meet and discuss business relations with our customers but also ensure the continuing successful development of the company through trendsetting ideas and products” said Wasim Kudsi.

GKD strives for geographical proximity to its market partners – six plants – the headquarters in Germany, the others in the USA, United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa and China, subsidiaries in Dubai, Qatar and representative offices worldwide.
