19 bakeries caught abusing rules in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi health inspectors caught 19 bakeries and sweet shops violating hygienic rules during random visits to food outlets in the city ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan, newspapers said on Thursday.
The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, which oversees the food sector in the emirate, said its inspectors fined four bakeries and delivered notices to 15 sweet shops and bakeries for failing to respect health rules.
The violations involved wrong hygienic practices, improper storage of food items, absence of expiry labels on foodstuffs and failure by staff members to comply with rules on wearing uniforms and head cover.
