RTA to auction number plates on December 27

About 100 plates will be auctioned on December 27th (File)

The Licensing Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to launch the 85th Open Auction for distinguished vehicle number plates on Saturday, 27th December 2014, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Festival City in Dubai.

About 100 plates comprising two, three, four and five-digits will be offered, and registration for the auction will open on Sunday 21st of December.

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA Licensing Agency, said, "The RTA is keen on continuously launching open auctions since they command paramount attention of various community segments who had been keen on taking part in these auctions several years back and up to now as they avail them an apt opportunity to acquire distinguished plates."

"The upcoming open auction will offer scores of distinguished number plates that will command the attention of the public, considering the binary, three, four and five-digit plates spanning H, I, J, K, L, M, N, and O codes, contributing to sufficing the needs and aspirations of number plate enthusiasts. This auction avails the opportunity for number plate fanciers to take part in such comprehensive avant-garde plates which promise to measure up to their aspirations for distinctive plate numbers, particularly as open auctions are characterized by high competition for obtaining the desired plates," added Abdul Kareem Nimaat.

Regarding the mechanism of participation in the auction, Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat said: "Registration for participation in the auction will open on Sunday, 21st December, and will continue until the day of the auction (from 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm) whereas the Auction will start at 4:30 pm. Participants can register by visiting any of RTA Customer Service Centers in Dubai, via the website www.rta.ae, or through RTA customer service centers at Umm Al Ramool, Deira, and Barsha. It is noteworthy that registration requires depositing a security cheque amounting Dh25,000.”
