Saudi sues woman for calling her 'slave'

A Saudi female pilot with dark skin is suing a local woman after calling her “slave” on her Twitter page, saying she expects to win a court case against the attacker.

Nawal Al Husawi, one of a handful of Saudi women to be qualified as a pilot, said she was insulted when the unnamed woman described her as Abda (slave) on Twitter.

“I filed a suit case against that woman because I wanted to deal with this recurrent racism problem in Saudi Arabia in a different way,” she said.

“The case is still in court and I am optimistic…I have complete faith in our judicial system,” she told MZ MZ news website.

Husawi said the case involved “a lot of surprises and unexpected” developments but she did not elaborate.

The website did not say where in Saudi Arabia Husawi has filed the court case nor did it mention where the pilot works.
